Natchitoches, Louisiana
The Cane River National Heritage Area encompasses Natchitoches National Historic District, three state historic sites, a host of historic plantations and buildings that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Creole National Historical Park. The 67 structures within the Creole National Historical Park are benefiting from extensive restoration and rehabilitation.
The goals of our brand and wayfinding program are to create a higher public profile for the Cane River National Heritage Area, as a nationally important heritage destination, and to enhance the contribution of heritage tourism to the Natchitoches Parish economy.
The wayfinding and visitor information components aim to integrate all heritage related signs, markers, interpretive media and guide materials into a consistent design framework. The Cane River National Heritage Trail will link each heritage site within the area. Maps, hand guides and a comprehensive guidebook will present the area as a whole. The brand logo and the slogan A Cultural Journey are the basis for a long-term promotional program.
